Tunnel cop kills robber, is shot, in gun battle with 4 thugs

An off-duty Triboro-Bridge and Tunnel officer was shot and wounded in a wild gunfight at a Brooklyn auto body shop with a group of four armed thugs who tried to rob the place, police sources said.
The officer – who was hit in the shoulder – blasted one of the thugs dead in the 8:30 p.m. gun battle at the business at 74 Albany Avenue in Bedford Stuyvesant. He left another in very serious condition.
It was not known the condition of the other two robbers.
The unidentified officer was in stable condition at Kings County hospital, officials said.
