Hidden S.F. cash drops spread to other cities

Anonymous cash drops of $20 and $100 bills first appeared last week in San Francisco. Now it's inspired people in D.C., New Orleans and Dallas to also leave envelopes of cash around their cities.

The San Francisco donor tweets clues at @HiddenCash and calls the cash giveaways a "social experiment for good." The account, created May 23, has more than 344,000 followers.

@IHidtheCash in Washington, D.C., and @HiddenCash NOLA in NOLA both say in their Twitter profiles they were inspired by the San Francisco donor. Both accounts were created on May 28.

"I just want to see people :) Follow clues to find hidden cash. Do good with the money!" according to @IHidtheCash's Twitter profile.

In New Orleans, @HiddenCash_NOLA wrote, "God is everywhere!"

In Texas, @HiddenCashDFW was created on Friday. It asks local businesses to "sponsor" an envelope with cash or a gift card.

It's unclear where @HiddenCashDFW will target first. "Dallas, Mesquite, Fort Worth, Arlington or where?" it said in one tweet.

Not much known is about the San Francisco donor, except he or she made a lot of money in real estate.

In San Francisco, cash has been found in parking lots, at bus stops and even in trees. @HiddenCash has also made drops in Los Angeles and San Jose.

The drops will continue once or twice a week "with no end in sight," @HiddenCash told Bold Italic.

Gospodin iz Seri Kembangana ponadao se da je pronašao način kako da poveća svoj ponos, pa ostao razočaran i besan kada je shvatio da je samo još jedna žrtva internetske prevare.

Naime, uplatio je 130 evra za spravu koja uvećeva penis, pa je u kutiji koja mu je isporučena, pronašao najobičniju – lupu!

Prevaranti su mu uz to još poslali i instrukcije, odnosno upozorenje da svoju muškost ne uvećava dok kroz lupu prolaze sunčeve zrake.

"Nažalost, on je samo još jedan u nizu nasamarenih. Samo ove godine su kupci iz Malezije ostali bez 20.000 evra na slične podvale", izjavio je predsednik Udruženja za zaštitu potrošača Majkl Čong, koji je za slučaj saznao jer mu se kupac požalio.

Azijati su mnogo vise prone to gambling nego ostale rase. Jednom mom prijatelju dok sam ziveo u Spaniji dosla devojka sa Tajlanda i nije mogla da se odvoji od automata za kockanje koji su tada ('98) bili na svakom cosku u Madridu. Ali bukvalno nije mogla da se odvoji i uvek je zickala novac od svih bez srama.

Kad se vratila na Tajland on resio da je otakci, ali posto ju je gotivio odlucio da joj pomogne. Njeni roditelji su sa nekog sela i on napravi plan za farmu svinja za nju i njene roditelje i da joj $10K da kupi malu farmu i 72 svinje. On sam je iz Nebraske, odrastao na farmi i znao dosta oko zemlje i zivotinja, tako da joj sve vreme delio savete preko telefona. Jednom ga je zvala sva uplakana jer je jedna svinja umrla.

Onda, par nedelja kasnije, prestala da mu se javlja na par dana i on se bas bio zabrinuo. Javila mu se 3-4 dana kasnije, opet sva uplakana. Dosao u selo neki putujuci kazino (cini mi se da su u to vreme vec bili zabranili svo kockanje na Tajlandu, ali ko je voleo bilo je tih putujucih, koje su kasnije ogromnim kaznama takodje istrebili.), naucili je neku super igru i ona tokom 3 dana izgubila celu farmu.

Trazila od ovog mog prijatelja jos jednu sansu, on odbio i posle morala da se vrati u klub u BKK gde ju je i upoznao i odakle je hteo da je spase.  :(

Ja sam sa 16 godina poceo da zalazim u igraonice, tada su se kod nas pojavili oni poker automati. I tamo sam jos cuo od par ljudi kako su izgubili sve. Auto, stan, porodicu, sve na tim automatima. Jedino sto im je to trajalo po par godina, pa moze covek mozda da kaze vredelo je, a ne ko ovi Azijati ceo zivot prokockati za par dana.

The photo was taken by a Danish journalist - Allan Sørensen - in the Israeli town of Sdérot. The town is about two kilometres away from the Gaza strip: it often finds itself in the crosshairs of rockets fired from inside Gaza. Taken at night and slightly blurry, the snap gives an insight into the state of mind that currently prevails in the region.

In the photo, residents can be seen sitting on a hill watching intently as Israeli jets pound Gaza. In the front row, a young girl winks. Chairs have been pulled up especially for the occasion, in a scene that resembles more of a movie screening than the sidelines of a conflict.

As a journalist, I was looking for an area from which I could get an overview of the Israeli air strikes on Gaza, in order to better understand  what was going on. This evening, it was really intense and as I'd heard people speak about this hill, I went there. As I came closer, I was surprised to see that lots of cars were parked halfway up the hill. Once at the top, I noticed that there were already some 60 people sitting and standing. It was surprising to see them relaxed on their folding chairs. Some were smoking water pipes, others were snacking on popcorn as if it was an open-air cinema.

There were people aged between 60 and 70 but also young people. On the other hand, I didn't see any children. I think that's got something to do with the fact that the area isn't secure. A few days before a rocket hit the lower part of the hill which is in range.

For me, this attitude wasn't to provoke anyone. The people there sincerely didn't think there was anything wrong with what they were doing. And that's exactly why I took this photo. It backs up exactly what I have been noticing for the last three weeks, since the kidnapping of the three Israelis and the death of the young Palestinian that followed. On both sides, there's a total lack of empathy that I've never seen before. How can one react in this way when children in Gaza are being killed by bombs? And to those who criticise me for only showing one side of the story in this photo, I would answer that similar reactions have been observed on the Palestinian side. Like, for example, those who celebrated the kidnapping of the three Israelis by holding up three fingers [the images had been posted on pro-Palestinian sites].

Iraqi Christians are fleeing Mosul after Islamist militants threatened to kill them unless they converted to Islam or paid a "protection tax".

A statement issued by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (Isis) was read out at the city's mosques.

It called on Christians to comply by midday on Saturday or face death if they did not leave the northern city.

Isis has control of large parts of Syria and Iraq and said last month it was creating an Islamic caliphate.

The ultimatum cited a historic contract known as "dhimma," under which non-Muslims in Islamic societies who refuse to convert are offered protection if they pay a fee, called a "jizya".

"We offer them three choices:
- Islam;
- the dhimma contract - involving payment of jizya;
- if they refuse this they will have nothing but the sword,"
the Isis statement said.

Isis issued a similar ultimatum in the Syrian city of Raqqa in February, calling on Christians to pay about half an ounce (14g) of pure gold in exchange for their safety.

Vašington -- Sve avio-kompanije iz SAD i vodeći avio-prevoznici iz Nemačke, Francuske i Holandije obustavili letove za Tel Aviv zbog krize u pojasu Gaze.

The stores surveillance cameras were recording as Dissanayake ran outside and kicked one of the alleged robbers in the face.

"The first guy I saw, I just kicked him in the face," he said. "Then I punched the other guy."

In the video, you see the accused crooks begin their retreat and the get-away car getting further away. As they ran, Dissanayake threw a punch that knocked one of the guys to the ground. His friends and accomplices left him there.

"I just kicked him until he lays down on the floor," he said. "Until he stopped moving cause I wasn't sure if he had a knife or a gun so I wanted him to stop moving."

Police arrested the man who was identified as 33-year-old Odell Mathis. He has been charged with robbery with bodily injury. His partner and the driver got away, but customers of the Fuel Depot still call this a feel good story.
