Valja li ta Noć demona čemu ? Je li to opet neki serijal, ili jedna knjiga ?

Serijal. Za sada su objavljene dve knjige, a ne znam da li će ih biti još. Mene knjiga nije kupila, a nekoliko puta sam pokušavao da je čitam. Doduše, knjiga je odlično ocenjena preko bare, a nastavak je uvršten u Lokusovu recommended listu - premda to ne znači ama baš ništa, pošto  je pre odraz uticaja izdavačkih kuća, nego pravog stanja na tržištu.

Avgust i nije nešto bio prebogat novim knjigama koje su na mene ostavile utisak. Bilo je dosta B-listera, ali retko šta mi je privuklo veliku pažnju. Međutim, jedan roman zavređuje da se pomene, iako ne čitam njegovog autora.

Bruks već 30 godina štancuje knjige o Šanari. Što se mene tiče, čini mi se da sam ga prerasatao onog trenutka kada sam pročitao "Gospodara", međutim - u poslednje vreme mi mnogi preporučuju da obratim pažnju na njegove prikvele čuvenog "Mača od Šanare". Ko bi ga znao. Možda i hoću.

Urbane fantastike ima na tone. Svakog dana pojavljuju se neki novi pisci. Ta pošast je uzela toliko maha da većinu tih stvari ni ne čitam. Obično preletim preko sinoposisa - i srežem PDF, ako sam dobio ARC. Međutim, poneka knjiga mi i privuče pažnju.

Laguna je objavila "Crveno more pod crvenim nebom" Skota Linča, nastavak romana "Laži Loka Lamore".

About the Author

Već sam pročitao knjigu i moram reći da je bolje napisana od prethodne, unatoč malom eksperimentu u formi, koji mi se ni najmanje nije dopao.

Ovaj pisac takođe spada u guilty pleasures savremene fantastike, premda ima izvanredno napisane sf romane (Draka, Conquistador...), ali neopevano uživam u njegovom kataklizmičnom svetu u kojem su civilizaciju nastavili gikovi i plavuše, a o Easter Eggs omažima velikanima fantastike, na čelu sa Tolkinom neću posebno da govorim...

U svakom slučaju, ima i boljih pisaca i boljih knjiga, ali - mljac!

Oh, čitao sam Graceling odavno u originalu, kao i Kasandru Kler. Inače sam veliki pobornik elektronskih knjiga, premda je ekološki činilac zapravo na strani papirnih izdanja, ali ove knjige nameravam da kupim za majku.

Pretpostavljam da će cena biti slična? Enivej, sajam mi je dobra prilika da pokupujem fantastiku koju ne objavljuje Laguna. Još ako Bora stigne da objavi Witchera, mašala. Naravno, prva dva romana svejedno imam, ali šta ću kad sam hrčak.

Pošto ne kupujem knjige za sebe, sem na štandu Klio, gospođa majka će dobiti stotinak evrića worth of books. To bi trebalo da je podmiri mesec-dva dana.

Ako se uzme da su svi ostali činioci isti, čitanje elektronskih knjiga je lošije po očuvanje životne sredine - nešto manje ako se čitaju preko dedicated e-čitača, a mnogo više ako se čitaju preko tableta. Evo zašto: Kada se dead tree version knjiga odštampa itd. i nađe u rukama svog čitaoca - sve dalje zagađivanje prestaje. Ta knjiga čak može i da se reciklira prirodno, što će potrajati nekih 150-200 godina. Čitanje elektronskih knjiga izuskuje potrošnju struje, koja nekako mora da se proizvede. Takođe, izrada baterija koje idu u čitače iziskuje upotrebu retkih metala, dok njihova prerada nepovratno narušava životnu sredinu u kojoj se odvija. Na kraju, materijali od kojih se čitači i tableti izrađuju nisu tako lako razgradivi. Samo je za otklanjanje baterija potrebno više novca nego što čitav uređaj vredi - to ako hoćemo da radimo "zeleno", naravno.

I tako dalje i tako bliže.

meni je fina knjiga, pročitao sam i drugi deo na engleskom i mogu da kažem da je mogao malo da rastegne, jako kratko i tek je zagrebao površinu sa onim pto je napisao. Naravno ne može da se meri sa nekim od velikih pisaca ali opet, dovoljno za letnju razonodu.

Rotfas nije za svakoga. On piše fantastiku za duga lenja popodneva. Izraz mu je veoma lirski, naročito u prvoj knjizi, a romani su mu gotovo mozaici zasebnih priča. Po lepoti jezika daleko je ispred svojih vršnjaka Sandersona i Linča, ali sve je to treća liga u odnosu na prvu postavku žanra.

U svakom slučaju, moj stav o Rotfasu prilično je pozitivniji od Perinovog. Kolega High Duke je na mom blogu dao prikaz prve knjige.

Pa generalno, i moj prikaz prvog romana je pozitivan...ali me drugi baš razočarao, i to najviše obimom i praznim hodom. Kao i opisom seksualnih scena...Nešto lošije nisam sreo odavno. Mada je suma sumarum ovo što je nightflier rekao u prve 3-4 rečenice gore.

Mislim da postoji topik koji se bavi knjigama objavljenim na srpskom, otvoren jedno godinu-dve nakon ovog. Ali pošto sam svojevremeno imao neke insajderske informacije od domaćih izdavača - više ih nemam - sve sam to objavljivao ovde. I dalje ovde postavljam kada izađe nešto novo na srpskom, a vidim da to rade i drugi članovi. Što se mene lično tiče - ne zbog toga što je moja tema - više volim da sve bude na jednom mestu, nego rasparčano na nekoliko tema. Ali ne branim ostalima da otvaraju nove teme, drugačije svrhe i namene.

Neal Stephenson - Reamde

Amazon Book Review: Neal Stephenson is quite rightly known as a writer of ideas, but don't put it past him to pen a straightforward thriller. True, the plot of said thriller hinges on a massively multiplayer online game that's a step beyond what's actually available on the Internet circa 2011, but that's as far as the sci-fi goes. Enter "REAMDE," an online virus that brings together a super-rich CEO, a Chinese hacker, a rogue Russian mafioso, an assimilated East African beauty, an itinerant Hungarian software programmer, two insanely prolific fantasy writers, and guns, guns, guns. (The book features so much firepower that Stephenson enlisted what he calls a "ballistics copy editor.") It takes a veritable master of pacing to make a thousand pages feel like barely a third of that, but Stephenson is that master; his breakneck narrative starts fast and never, ever lets up. As such, Reamde is as likely to turn off fans of his more cerebral fiction as it is to gain him scads of new devotees. Regardless, it marks an inimitable highlight of this year's thriller roster. --Jason Kirk
