Evo, kako, opisujući Nintendovu bleskastu E3 prezentaciju veli:

Quote
Nintendo is endearingly earnest about fun. Its developers come out and talk excitably about games in which you jump around bright, cheerful worlds collecting coins or bananas, or guide tiny plant-people around a garden, or race flying cars. They don't say meaningless things like "entertainment ecosystem" and "true next-generation engine"; they come across as people who make things rather than corporate robots removed from their charging stations to present for two minutes on a stage.

http://uk.gamespot.com/twitter-battle/xbox-vs-ps4/

Quote"It isn't just about price," he says. "It's about value. It's the value for the price. What I believe is we have incredible value for the price we're offering our system. And I think it's unmatched compared to other things."

QuoteI think when you look at what we put into the box Cell, Blu-Ray, backwards compatibility, the ability to go online - I think it's a very compelling package for consumers," said Kaz Hirai, president and chief executive officer of Sony (Research) Computer Entertainment America. "The totality of what we bring to the table makes it a good value for consumers."

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number - Teaser Trailer

QuoteWhat has changed this time around is the storytelling. Hotline 2 is set in the early '90s, and features multiple playable characters with deeper layers of fiction obscuring what's real and what isn't. There's a certain degree of meta-fiction in the sequel, as well. It primarily stars a group of "fans" attempting to recreate the events of the first game.

Majkrosoft je izgleda poslušao glas naroda

Xbox One Will Not Require Internet, Restrict Used Games
Quote
Microsoft has changed its policies regarding Xbox One's internet requirements, used game restrictions and more.
Contrary to the details announced earlier this month, Microsoft has now confirmed news originally reported on Giant Bomb that Xbox One will not require an internet connection to play offline games or need to check in every 24 hours; instead, internet will only be required when initially setting up the console.
"After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again," Microsoft wrote. "There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360."
Like on Xbox 360, "playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray."
Xbox One will also no longer restrict used games, and will instead allow discs to be exchanged in the same way they are on Xbox 360. There will be no additional restrictions for trade-ins or lending games to friends. The system is also no longer be region locked and all downloaded games will function the same way whether your console is connected or not.
"Since unveiling our plans for Xbox One, my team and I have heard directly from many of you, read your comments and listened to your feedback," Microsoft's Don Mattrick wrote. "I would like to take the opportunity today to thank you for your assistance in helping us to reshape the future of Xbox One. You told us how much you loved the flexibility you have today with games delivered on disc. The ability to lend, share, and resell these games at your discretion is of incredible importance to you. Also important to you is the freedom to play offline, for any length of time, anywhere in the world."
n addition to being available in retail stores, Xbox One games will still be available for download on day one and will be playable on any Xbox One console.
"These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One," Mattrick noted. "The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold."
"We appreciate your passion, support and willingness to challenge the assumptions of digital licensing and connectivity," Mattrick concluded. "While we believe that the majority of people will play games online and access the cloud for both games and entertainment, we will give consumers the choice of both physical and digital content. We have listened and we have heard loud and clear from your feedback that you want the best of both worlds."
Microsoft's decision follows mass confusion following the announcement of Xbox One in May. At E3 last week, Sony announced similar policies for PlayStation 4, which will not require an internet connection or periodic authentication and does not restrict used games.

I još malo pojašnjenja: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/19/xbox-one-will-require-day-one-update

QuoteWhat is it people like Cliff Bleszinski always say to gamers? Oh right, it's a business!

Yeah, it's a business alright. You know what businesses are very good at doing? Failing. And if companies fail because they needed a console that inconvenienced consumers and imposed restrictions on other markets, well ... that's business for you.

Prove you deserve to survive. It's a business ... and that means you're not fucking entitled to your existence.

QuoteMy God, do these companies love the fuck out of capitalism, but it seems that when capitalism comes to collect, when the flip-side of the system's benefits come to bite them on the ass, they try their best to run away from it.

Hmmm...

Only a Game: Why Censoring New Media Won't Stop Gun Violence

Quote
Media Coalition issued the 13-page report, Only a Game: Why Censoring New Media Won't Stop Gun Violence inresponse to recent claims that media causes violence.  The report looks at social science research studying the link between aggressive behavior and video games with violent images and finds that the data on the claimed harms of violent video games are highly controvertible, and even those that can be found are negligible and short-lived.

Key Findings: 1. Crime statistics do not support the theory that new media causes violence.

  • While media consumption has increased, violent crime rates in the U.S. have dropped, according to the government's National Crime Victimization Survey.
  • In national populations, including the U.S., more video game sales correlate with less crime, according to a 2012 Washington
  • Post review of the 10 biggest video game markets around the world. Profiles of mass shooters by the FBI and the Secret Service do not list an attraction to violent video games as a contributing or significant factor.
2. Research into the effects of video games on aggression is contested and inconclusive. Much of it suffers from methodological deficiencies and provides insufficient data to prove a causal relationship.

  • Reviews by the governments of Australia, Great Britain and Sweden have all studied the research claiming a link between violent video games and aggressive behavior and concluded that it is flawed, flimsy and inconclusive.
  • In striking down a California law aimed at restricting the sale of violent video games, the U.S. Supreme Court in 2011 noted that the scientific evidence the state relied upon had been rejected by nearly every court to consider it, and that "most of the studies suffer from significant, admitted flaws in methodology."
  • Critics of these flawed studies have also noted a bias against publishing studies that find what scientists call "null effects"—that is, the experimental conditions they construct (e.g., "video games cause violent behavior") yield no measurable reactions, least of all those hypothesized at the start.
3. Censorship is barred by the First Amendment, but industry self-regulation works.

  • "Video games qualify for First Amendment protection," wrote the Supreme Court in the 2011 California case. "Like the protected books, plays, and movies that preceded them, video games communicate ideas." The Court went on to find that violent content is protected in every medium, for adults and minors.
  • A Federal Trade Commission undercover shopping survey published in March 2013 showed that the Electronic Software Review Board's rating system works: Retailers refused to sell M-rated video games to minors 87 percent of the time, up from 80 percent in 2009.
Conclusion: A majority of Americans may believe that fictional violence leads to violence in real life. But common sense and objective research does not show it.
Note: Only a Game confines itself largely to the issue of violent video games. A 2000 Media Coalition report, Shooting the Messenger: Why Censorship Won't Stop Violence, examines at greater length the scientific claims of short- and long-term linksbetween all kinds of media — movies, TV and music, as well as games — and violent crime. The report concludes with recommendationsfor helping kids to become smart media consumers and a reaffirmation of the American way of fighting offensivespeech: not with censorship but with "more and different speech, informed speech, critical speech."

Privju igre The Witness deluje, dakako, zanimljivo. Važan citat Jonathana Blowa:

QuoteI'm taking the structure of a classical adventure game, but getting rid of all the things that are terrible about adventure games," says Blow matter-of-factly. Inventories, parsing and hunting for objects or interactive spots are out. So is any kind of verbal communication whatsoever. Aside from a button prompt instructing you to interact with the very first puzzle panel, there is no tutorialisation in The Witness at all. The game is "all about non-verbal communication"
