Ja sam svojevremeno probao da igram Mech Warrior (i Heavy Gear) igre ali sam shvatio da je to za mene prekomplikovano.. Nisam ja za simulacije, reklo bi se... No, hajde, daćemo priliku Pirani da me iznenadi.

Cetvrti (poslednji dakle) Mechwarrior nije simulacija, niti je komplikovan. Sto je mnoge razocaralo, ali da budem sasvim iskren, premda je i meni nedostajao hard core vajb prethodnika, igra je bila podjednako zabavna i kul, samo na arkadniji nacin.

To je ta nezadrživa napaljenost mladosti.

Sa zanimanjem pročitah to pre neki dan, ali to je gamecube only naslov (nema roma)?

Gamecube only i ja iz nekog razloga ne uspevam da pokrenem rezanu kopiju na svom tricked out Wiiju. Moraću da ujurim original negde u bespućima second hand ponude na Internetu.

Doduše, sad mi je palo na pamet da nisam probao da je pokrenem na PC-ju sa Dolphin emulatorom ali ne očekujem čuda.

Khm. Nemam običaj da ovde kačim linkove za piracke verzije komercijalnih igara, pogotovo ne za nove, pa to neću ni sad uraditi ali... LucasArts je upravo na Steamu izdao Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade i Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, dve mnogohvaljene avanture iz njinog zlatnog perioda. Većina old skool igrača ih verovatno već ima ali je pitanje može li ih pokrenuti na savremenim računarima. Ove dve Steam verzije rade i na XP i Vista sistemima, a slutim i na Sedmici. Ima ih svuda gde inače skidate svoje piracke igre a ako neko ne može da ih nađenek se javi da mu prosledim linkove.

doduše, ove parne verzije izgleda ne rade pod superiornim skamom, što po svoj prilici nije preteran razlog za pljuvačinu, dok skamovci pokazuju razumljiv oprez sproću instant prilagođavanja.

PSA: LucasArts' Steam-distributed games don't work on ScummVM (but they could!)

The first thing we did after firing up our Steam client this afternoon to check in on the status of those LucasArts games was ... well, the first thing we did was write a post about the prices for you, dear Reader. The second thing we did, however, was download The Dig to discover if this classic adventure game – as delivered through Steam – would work via ScummVM, allowing this blogger in particular to play the title in another operating system, sans Steam (namely: Mac OS X).

Well, since The Dig is having some issues and won't play in Windows through Steam (@lucasartsgames says it's "looking into Dig issues") we went with LOOM. Another brief, $5 download later and it works ... in Steam at least. Our attempts to get it to run in ScummVM weren't as successful, despite having all the necessary files available to us, unencrypted. So we went digging, and came up with this blog post by ScummVM team co-leader Sev who writes, "As of the ScummVM compatibility, we see that here were some changes that make the games incompatible with the current ScummVM version."

So, did LucasArts intentionally change the files to break compatibility with ScummVM? Doesn't sound likely. Sev calls the changes "very trivial" and says they "do not seem to constitute any kind of copy protection." Since this isn't any kind of copy protection or encryption, patching ScummVM to work with these new releases would be a "five minutes hack." However, much to our surprise, he and his team have "decided to abstain from it at least for now." He writes, "We do not want to interfere with their sales and/or any upcoming plans for other platforms. Also we are really open for cooperation in this regard and will be more than happy to make any upcoming releases run with use of ScummVM."

Sounds like an honorable stance to us, though one that will deprive this blogger of the ability to play these two games anywhere but Windows. We've reached out to LucasArts for a comment on the format changes and their thoughts on ScummVM enabling playback of these games.

Meni je Gecko da prostite geknuo nakon što sam pre par meseci apdejtovao HBC i sad mi se prijavljuje kao 'this is not a Wii application'. A Game Cube Launcher uspeva da je pokrene do špice ali igra krešuje kad treba da zbilja krene. Fali mi neki cIOS ili nešto, verovatno ali ko će ga znati...

Zombie Cow Studios ima dve point-i-klik avanture, Ben There, Dan That i Time Gentlemen, Please. Prva je besplatna, druga je 5 dolara, ali može se skinuti demo. Pročitah dobre preporuke, posebno za ovu drugu. Možda je vreme da se malo podsetimo nekih stvari.

I, naravno, juče je izašao Dragon Quest IX u Japanu. 2 miliona kopija je naručeno unapred. Kažu da je igra OGROMNA, tako da na karti ima mesta samo za jedan snimljeni fajl. (Što se tiče moje analize četvorke, biće, biće. Ali svaki DQ daje onoliko koliko uložite u njega. Ja sam do sada igrao gotovo 100 sati, a moji junaci su gotovo svi na 28. nivou - može se ići do 99!  :shock:)

Taj Time Gentleman, please je bio pre par dana prikazan na Eurogameru pa sam ga ja sinoć uredno skinuo. Doći će na red, jednom... valjda.

Dragon Quest IX je posvuda po Internetu no, kako ne znam japanski, nemam još uvek šta da kažem o njemu... Sigurno je dobar...

Inače nešto u životu nemam vremena za MMO igre, ali BioWareov The Old Republic je uspeo da me zaintrigira da makar pratim vesti o razvoju pošto je to, jelte, nesuđeni KOTOR 3.

No, kad ovako nešto čovek pročita, bljesne mu pred očima koliko je proizvođenje videoigara danas OGROMAN biznis (i posao) i koliko je sve to neverovatno veliko u odnosu na recimo igre tipa Braid ili World of Goo koje su napravila po 2-3 čoveka u svojim spavaćim sobama:

Perry initially mentioned that the voice over work was a joint project between the two companies, with BioWare writing scripts for each session and LucasArts responsible for recording sessions. Afterwards, LucasArts would sending the assets back to BioWare, who would incorporate these into the game. However, Perry mentioned that this was not like a standard recording project for any game; she mentioned that the size of the voiceover work within The Old Republic was "at least 10 KoToRs recorded back to back." Perry also provided insight into the entire process for the game, which involved a team of writers getting a script together for the voice actors. From there, the lead writer would have a script conference with the voice over directors to make sure that they could understand exactly how to direct the voice actors. After that, the voice actors would come in and record with a script that had both a synopsis of the scene as well as comments to add nuances to the performance.

Once the lines are recorded, both LucasArts and BioWare review each session to select which lines will be kept or re-recorded in later sessions. Perry mentioned that this clearly involved a ton of work, stating, "while the script calls for hundreds of thousands of lines of dialogue, we will actually have recorded much more than that!" Once both teams from LucasArts and BioWare are satisfied with the performance, the work is included into the game. While Perry didn't mention where they happened to be within the whole voice over process, it would appear that both LucasArts and BioWare have been working on this for quite some time.

Kada sam saznao da je Xbox 360 verzija igre BlazBlue region-locked, a Arcsys još nije najavio evropsko izdanje, ispsovao sam se i naručio Playstation 3 verziju iz Hong-Konga. Drugi ljudi drugačije reaguju, ovaj je napravio hilarious skeč na JuTjubu. Podrazumeva makar minimalnu familijarnost sa žanrom borilačkih igara

inače, pristup pena i telera je dobar u smislu stavljanja ma kakvih bukagija na diskusiju ka kojoj bi ih ozbiljniji pristup mogao odvesti. pri tome ne cenim previše njihov diskurs, premda uglavnom uspevaju da iscrtaju bitne teze. diskusija kakvu vodi, i želi većina onih kojima se ova epizoda bavi zasnovana je na faličnoj logici i zatucanoj ideologiji; ne treba graditi raspravu koja će podržavati izolovanje svake sumnje u sopstvenu ispravnost, ali pozivanje na ovakvo filtriranje nekorisne buke u budućim raspravama može biti korisno.

svedoci smo da se jedno od najvećih dostignuća xx veka, spuštanje na mesec, čak i u "ozbiljnim" medijima i reportažama blati, budući da se jedan od 3-4 pasusa posvećena tom događaju redovno tiče pominjanjem teorija i sumnji kojekakvih mentalnih izdrkotina, vernika itd. sledeći taj trend, može se očekivati da buduće godišnjice drugog svetskog rata dobiju slične pasuse, gde se pominju neki koji misle, ili čak veruju, da se holokaust nije dogodio – slični podnesci se odavno mogu videti na history channelu i uopšte u tzv. ozbiljnim studijama gde se između komunizma i fašizma stavlja znak jednakosti, najkrvavija armija je naravno crvena, itd. u stvari, to je znatno prefriganiji trend nego ovaj kojim se u epizodi o video igrama bave pen i teler. to kažem pre svega zbog toga što je dragi džek šit prilično diskreditovan, ražalovan je kao advokat, oštećen mu je pedigre, tako bitan za svaku protuvu koja se hrani moralnom panikom.

tolerancija prema netolerantnima je nužno zlo, budući da masa, ma koliko prosvetljena, ne bi bila u stanju da izgradi dovoljno napredno društvo kada bi počela da razvlači iznutrice verskih pastira, demagoga po asfaltu. pre svega zato što rulja, kada se pokrene, nije u stanju da razluči bitne nijanse, već samo da puca u jednostavne mete. po tome bi taj hipotetički, i dragi lynch mob ipak bio sličan džeku šitu i ekipi.

no, preteranim pucanjem u lake mete najviše trpe buduće rasprave; svakako je takav odnos koristan za kolumniste, i one koje isti kolumnuju. to vodi u intelektualnu lenjost, jer ako ne možemo izolovati nekorisnu buku, kakofonija će opet nanovo rasti, kao korov. što u principu izražava moju tupu nadu da će bar neke emisije u budućnosti prihvatiti da su određeni aspekti rasprave o štetnosti video igara biti prepoznati i zanemareni, bar dok se ne pojavi neka nova panika i doživi sličnu sudbinu. ne govorim o makro planu, nego mislim da bi bilo lepo da konačno dobijemo uratke koji neće trošiti dragoceno vreme na provetravanje pre početka prave rasprave. u tom smislu pozdravljam epizodu totalno posvećenu koprofagiji.

Pošteno. Kao što rekoh, ja najpre imam zamerke na činjenicu da ova emisija, kao i recimo što je bio slučaj u Kulturnom KO-u, daje gledaocu privid diskusije iako zapravo daje govornicima mogućnost da pričaju bez sagovornika a zatim dosnimava reakcije autora emisije iz offa. Mislim, naravno da je to legitiman pristup ali oduzima oštricu tvom argumentu kada ne dopuštaš ikakvu polemiku. Plus, naravno, nazivanje ljudi esholima i GILFovima iz offa je mene beskrano zabavilo ali diskredituje diskurs do tačke potpune bezvrednosti za svakoga ko nije već zauzeo (naš) stav.

da, pa ni ja to ne volim, s tim da su pen i teler ipak mnogo umešnija i artikulisanija produkcija, a teme kojima se bave bolje obrađene. sistem koji pominješ gde se prednost (odnosno mogućnost da pričaš drugi/poslednji) dobija na osnovu biasa autora emisije lako može da se sroza na ad hominem napade koji više govore o prosvećenoj ekipi koja pljuje zatucanu, što je definitivno i ovde opasnost. ja sam gledajući ovo pre svega dobio asocijaciju na kakvu takvu mogućnost da se pomerimo od rasprava i umova koji svesno ili nesvesno ne mogu da se odvoje od jedne linije argumentacije, dokazano falične i maliciozne, i te tupe i žalosne predvidivosti. mislim da je korisno na mikro planu zauzeti stav prema tome, baš zarad naprednijeg suprotstavljanja stavova, i naravno prihvatanja njihovog menjanja.

July 28, 2009 - In February came the report that a Sweden's Youth Care Foundation had branded Blizzard's World of Warcraft as "the cocaine of the computer games world." Today comes word from England that therapists are signing up to the game in order to provide therapy to those online.

The report, in the Telegraph newspaper, states that Dr. Richard Graham, a consulting psychiatrist, is calling on Blizzard to waive or discount the costs of joining World of Warcraft for therapists. Graham says that this will allow therapist better access to those who need help.

"We will be launching this project by the end of the year," Graham told the Telegraph. "I think it's already clear that psychiatrists will have to stay within the parameters of the game. They certainly wouldn't be wandering around the game in white coats and would have to use the same characters available to other players."

The article also said that Graham may recruit players to serve as "peer mentors" to help identify those who were addicted to the game.

To je bilo očekivano. Samo sam ja pretpostavljao da će ti doktori ipak imati neke mogućnosti koje normalni igrači nemaju, recimo da ne može biti napadan od strane PC i NPC, instant teleport na bilo kog igrača, markiranje bilo kog igrača na mapi, onemogućavanje igraču da "skvelčuje" doktora, i tako te stvari. Blizzard bi trebao da sarađuje u ovome, makar zbog imidža ako ne zbog pozitivnih efekata.

slabo čitam podrobnije o alfa protokolu, uglavnom pogledam kad se pojave novi videi, ali definitivno ostavlja deus ex vajb. s tim što mi se čini da je dijaloški sistem prilagođen konzolama... vuče na čest stav da na konzole ne sme da se plasira previše teksta, da se ne ugrozi tempo, što opet dovodi do problema kada se igra izdaje za više platformi, a pogotovo ako se pravi kompromis oko kontrolnog sistema... ali da ne širim. grafika nije bogzna šta, ali deluje funkcionalno, makar borba izgledala kao inferiorna verzija... recimo gtauta. glavni lik je posebno bezličan, no najavljuju široku modifikaciju, makar opreme, te se nadam da će dobiti malo duha... iako želim da obsidian sve što ima baci na new vegas, ovo bi mogao biti sleeper hit.

hajde da i ja da progovorim kroz führera, nije da me previše pogađa glavna tema, ali mi se sviđa rasplinjavanje:

Ja sam juče pročitao novi hands-on privju Alfa Protokola i takođe sam dobio Deus Ex flešinu. Moglo bi to da bude jako dobro, pogotovo znajući da je Obsidian ipak satavljen od ljudi koji su učestvovali u proizvodnji Folauta i Tormenta... Što se dijaloga tiče, moj utisak je da je ovo zapravo zanimljivo rešenje. Dakle, koliko shvatam, radijalni dijalog-meni je sličan mass effect meniju utoliko što se igraču ne pokazuje sam tekst koji će izgovoriti nego više stav koji će plasirati (pomirljiv, preteći itd.) a igra onda otpakuje dijalog i postupak u skladu sa stavom. No, za razliku od Mass Effect ovde su dijalozi vremenski ograničeni, što znači da čovek nema vremena da mnogo razmišlja o tome kakav stav želi da plasira već mora brzo da odlučuje. S obzirom da privjuer tvrdi da su posledice različitih stavova drastično različite  daljem igranju, to me dosta ohrabruje.

Naravno, borba zbilja deluje... siromašno, ali i Deus Ex je bio u najboljem slučaju klimav u tom domenu. Onaj E3 privju/ intervju sa Krisom Aveloneom mi je zaista ulio puno poverenja u pogledu ove igre...

Hitler je inače odličan, kao i onaj za BlazBlue. Sviđa mi se kako baja jedan isti insert koristi na inventivne načine. Za moj ukus jako duhovito i uostalom, pogađa u centar mete.

jbg, slabo poznajem taj mass effect, video sam ga jednom briefly uživo... doduše ovo za radijalni meni sam mislim nazreo u youtube komentarima, kako je to jedan od uzora i zaboravio.  xwink2 ono, više sam lamentirao što na konzole prečesto pada ta kob zabave i strah od dosade, ali svejedno bi moglo biti interesantno. valjda ću jednom malo više prelistati mass effect i dead space. ne znam što sam pomenuo dead space ali eto. verovatno jer mi se isto (u stvari, više) ne igra pa se obrazujem preko klipova. u stvari, obeshrabrio si me onomad kada si pričao o aspektima u kojima motherfucking fallout 3 piša po mass effectu. u stvari, ja nisam mnogo voleo ni kotor. mada cenim i poštujem, samo mi treba vremena da se posvetim space operi.

Ja sam na silu završio Mass Effect pre nekoliko dana i zapanjen sam koliko je ta igra dobila nepodeljene pohvale kako od kritike tako i od publike. Ovo je daleko najslabiji BioWare naslov koga sam ja igrao (još nisam igrao Sonic RPG koga su uradili za DS ali dobio je loše ocene) jer mu je sam gejmplej ne neimpresivan nego u nekim elementima veoma loš. Vožnja je apsolutno broken. Pucnjava je samo za nijansu bolja. Dijalozi su dobri i igra ima solidnu operetsku priču. Najimpresivniji su kinematski napisani i režirani dijalozi, što zaista pozdravljam u smislu imerzije, ali u pogledu mehanike i onoga kako se igra u suštini igra, ovo je daleko ispod KOTOR. Loš šuter i loša vožnja, kojima RPG mehanika odozgo ne pomaže.

No konzolni RPGovi daleko od toga da po defaultu imaju malo teksta, naprotiv. Trenuto igram novoireizdati Final Fantasy VII star 12 godina i tu ima teksta da se usereš. Pa Xenogears, pa Persona, pa ovo pa ono... Doduše, pričam uglavnom o japanskim naslovima. Sam Mass Effect ima sumanuto mnogo teksta, daleko više nego što je meni prijalo.

da, jbt, sad sam se setio da sam odustao od ocarine of time, n64 roma, zbog toga što mi je dijalog bio suviše banalan. količinski nisam imao zamerke, naprotiv. moraću da završim neki jrpg, a nije da nisam uzimao sve same finest specimens  :(

Dobro, Zelda igre baš nisu poznate po svom narativu/ dijalozima. Preporuka je svakako Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI ili Secret of Mana koje sve lahko možeš da odigraš na emulatorima.

I'm torn as to whether sex belongs in games. I've followed the debate for years, between the folks who feel that sexuality proves maturity – that if games can show relations between consenting adults, we can finally call them "art" – and the folks who think games can't handle it, because they don't understand relationships and they can't capture nuance and anyway, kids play these things, so we should all keep our pants on. Set aside the theory, and in practice, you can see that games are conflicted. A few tackle sex, and some – like God of War and Dark Room Sex Game - even hook it to the gameplay, but by and large, there's no industry-wide practice around it.

But every so often a game gets it right. And right now, Overlord II's "foursome" scene is the best of the year. Yes, it's a scene where you, the hero, have a foursome. And yes, it's juvie wish fulfillment. But it's also a smartly done and properly incentivised scene that in two minutes, gets everything right.

First, some context. (And yes, there will be light spoilers.) In Overlord II, you play the faceless, voiceless evil overlord who storms around the countryside, enslaving or murdering innocents and stealing all their stuff. But when you're not out raising hell, you can come back to your fortress in hell, aka the Netherworld, where you're greeted home by up to three different mistresses. See, as you adventure through the game, certain women you meet decide to move in with you.  And they'll even come on to you. If you buy them stuff.

Which is lame. It's hard to buy a story where the beautiful woman just falls in the hero's – sorry, anti-hero's – arms for no good reason, let alone for gifts. Character development is easily Overlord II's biggest weakness, along with plotting, combat, and the control scheme.

But if the female characters are just types, at least they cover three different types. Red-haired Kelda comes from the provincial backwater of Nordberg, and she's known – and crushed on – you since you were kids. She's more tough than evil, although (in a possible homage to Sarah Palin) she flirts with the idea of hunting animals with a boulder-chucking catapult. Kelda's your first love - but then you meet Juno, who you rescue from a life of scandal and high society. More malicious and self-centered than Kelda, Juno paves the way to the third mistress, Queen Fay, who starts out as the protector of all that's good and natural – until you twist and corrupt her.

Only one woman can be the main mistress, so do you stick with the no-nonsense Kelda, who stood by you when you were just a vile wee stump back in Nordberg? Or are you a materialist, who trades up trophy wives until you've gone from a commoner to a lady to a queen? This decision offers more role-playing than anything else in the game, where you really only have a choice between torturing people and murdering them.

After you pick a main mistress, the other two sulk around and heckle her. Unless you talk all three of them into "getting along splendidly". As the Internet quickly discovered, there is a way – and I won't tell you what; you can look it up yourself – to get all three women to hit the hay with you at once. (You'll even get a gameplay prize: a piece of the totem pole that gives you control over more minions.) The scene starts with coy flirting, the curtains are drawn, and the action moves off-screen.

And that's the best part. Because even though games need sexuality, I don't want to watch sex in a game. That man (or woman) on-screen – that's me. I don't want to just sit there watching myself have intercourse if I can't control it. And I definitely don't want to control it, because trying to steer a sex act using a game controller is as ludicrous as ludicrous gets. Human intercourse already breaks down if you focus too much on the plumbing – and in a gameplay context, that's all there is. I don't want to sit there pumping the Wii MotionPlus or banging away on the D-pad. Gamewide, Overlord II goes off the tracks many times, but they got that one thing right: sex in an interactive context is better left to the imagination. We don't need to see the details.

Let's just say we were amazing, and leave it at that.

Overlord II je, actually prilično dobar, primetno bolji nego prvi, seks na stranu.

Da, video sam to o Syntax Era na Eurogameru pre par nedelja. Meni, s obzirom na moj uzrast, to će biti megazanimljivo. Mladima... ne znam baš.

Eurogamer danas još malo o Alfa Protokolu. Kako rekoh i tamo u komentaru, sve sam napaljeniji sa svakim novim privjuom. I počeo sam da dobijam ozbiljan Deus Ex vajb. I ta igra je imala loše iskorišćenu tehnologiju, problematičan kvalitet dijaloga, lošu borbu i nije ozbiljno separirala habove i dandžne, a ispala je znamo kako.

Taj Evony deluje kao nešto što bih rado igrao. Pod uslovom da su žene u igri kao ove prave glumice a ne kao ona CGI na slici dole levo. Od takvih mi erekcija nestaje.
