Tebe i Walkera očigledno ništa manje od injekcije koktela kokaina i cijalisa direktno u prostatu više ne može da uzbudi.   Šalim se, sad ću i ja da pogledam trejler pa da premerim čvrstinu erekcije.

Pa, dobro, trejler nam pokazuje da je novi (??) endžin ipak moćniji - mada je većina ovoga prerenderovana, naravno - da tu ima lepšeg mocapa, lepšeg osvetljenja, modernijih efekata. Ostalo... pa valjda nismo očekivali radikalna stilska ili filozofska odstupanja od starih ES igara??? Meni je ovo sasvim OK, s obzirom da ES igre svakako nisu nabijene akcijom i adrenalinom i da je u dva minuta trejlera nemoguće nabiti ono što igru čini dobrom kad je sistematično igraš pedeset ili sto sati.

What the Hell is Thunderbolt?

Today Apple introduced their latest MacBook Pros, the first products to utilize Intel's new Thunderbolt technology, which begs the question: what the hell is Thunderbolt, and more importantly, why should you care?



What is it and What Does it Do?
Thunderbolt, formerly code-named 'Light Peak', is a new high-speed connectivity solution that routes not only data but video through a single port, designed by Intel in collaboration with Apple. What makes Thunderbolt unique, however, is not simply that it can combine data and video connectivity, but that it does so with unprecedented speed. On the data side, Thunderbolt can transfer data at a speed of 10Gbps, which, to put it into perspective, would be capable of transferring a full-length HD movie (roughly 10 to 20GBs) from one storage location to another in less than 30 seconds.


Thunderbolt is 20 times faster than USB 2.0, 12 times as fast as FireWire 800, and twice as fast as USB 3.0, which are capable of transfers of 480Mbps, 800Mbps, and 5Gbps, respectively. On the video side, Thunderbolt is capable of simultaneously delivering 1080p or more video output to external displays, including those without a Thunderbolt port. With an adapter, users can connect to DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, and VGA displays. Thunderbolt also supports multichannel audio, with up to eight channels being transferred at any given time.

It can also supply 10 watts of power to peripherals, limiting the need for external storage devices and other accessories to be independently powered by an AC adaptor; in other words: less wire clutter. More importantly, this allows multiple Thunderbolt devices to connect to one another without the need of a separate hub.


How Does it Work?
Thunderbolt takes two existing data and video technologies -- PCI Express and DisplayPort – and combines them; providing expanded bandwidth as well as a large degree of backwards compatibility. In addition to being able to use DisplayPort codecs to connect to devices without Thunderbolt ports, data connections can also adapters to allow users to connect to USB, FireWire, Gigabit Ethernet, and Fibre Channel ports.



Why Does it Matter?
All of this technical jargon boils down to one thing: faster, more efficient wired communication between devices. The time it takes to back up your PC's entire hard drive to an external drive could go from an hour or longer process to a matter of minutes, which could also the process to become more automated and processor-straining. Apple and Intel are also stressing the benefits for video production and IT professionals, who will be able to connect their laptops to elaborate media servers and storage solutions and up to six different devices at once.

It could also change the landscape of the future of gaming. Currently all gaming hardware relies upon USB connectivity, whether it be for controllers, USB storage devices, or handheld syncing. Assuming Thunderbolt becomes cost effective, it could become the new standard for gaming devices.

Take a LAN setup, for example: instead of an elaborate router setup, game consoles could simply be connected to one another by daisy-chaining them via Thunderbolt.

Alternately, it could mean big things for devices like the NGP and how it connects to full-sized console, like the PS3; providing near-instantaneous save syncing, game data transfers, and more for a ubiquitous gameplay experience.

For now, however, USB is likely to remain the dominant connection system due to the volume of devices that use it and how cheap it is to produce. Thunderbolt may overtake USB, but it is likely to be years before that will happen.


What Products Will I See Thunderbolt In?
As of right now the only Thunderbolt-compatible products are Apple's new MacBook Pros, however Intel says they are working with a variety of software and hardware partners, including Avid, Western Digital, and others to bring more compatible products to market later this year., including computers, displays, storage devices, audio/video devices, docking stations, and more.

Ili Square-Enix obasipa privjuere novcem, bloudžabovima id rugim perkovima, ili... je igra stvarno dobra. Alek je ipak stari PiSi gejmer, ne bi on tek tako hvalio Deus Eks igru koja nije na nivou.

David Jaffe je prošle nedelje na Twitteru vodio pravi rat sa ljudima koji su podržavali GeoHota, a on je tvrdio da hakovanje konzola neizbežno vodi u pirateriju i da nije sve tako nedužno kako se priča. To na stranu, ovde ga valja QFT-ovati. Ovde mu je svaka zlatna:

Twisted Metal maker David Jaffe has hit out at current home console design, saying it takes too long to get to the fun.

Having to check for new downloadable content, software updates and cutscenes annoys gamers, Jaffe said during a Game Developers Conference panel yesterday reported by Eurogamer sister site GamesIndustry.biz.

"Portable game time is going way up, but why? Those of us in the console space are actually making choices that push our customers away. The time it takes to power on your console and be in the game playing takes too damn long.

"The gap of time from pressing on to actually beginning to play is getting longer and it's annoying customers."

The emergence of broadband has enabled console manufacturers to evolve their products this generation through firmware updates.

Publishers, too, are able to improve games with software updates, and expand experiences with downloadable content.

For the outspoken Eat Sleep Play founder, however, it's all become too much.

"Cut scenes, installs, updates, load times, system boot up times - a lot of the stuff can be designed around," he said.

"For me there are times I've wanted to play a new console game but I just don't because I don't want to deal with all the ramp up time. Maybe that makes me lazy but look at all the other stuff that's competing right now for my leisure time.

So, what's to be done?

"What about if you have a disc in the system and there's a save file on the hard-drive for that disc, the instant I power up it shows me a prompt and says, 'Do I want to go to my latest save?' If I say 'yes' it bypasses everything - hardware logo, dashboard, XMB, game logos - all of it, and I'm in the game much faster.

"Another thing is why can't, if it's technically possible, I have a sleep mode on my consoles like I do on my Mac and I do on my game devices? All I have to do is hit a switch and within seconds I'm back in the game."

Jaffe called for a limit to the number of updates a game should have over the internet, which would, theoretically, force better design and completion of a game before launch.

"Hardware manufacturers, I feel, should only allow one to four updates to the software per game every year. And none of them should come in the first one or two months of the game shipping. When I first started in the business the games we shipped was our last chance off the bat.

"If game developers could make it work then, we can at least make sure games don't have to be updated the same f**king week they hit shelves, thus causing more wait times for the consumer."

Pa, to kaže i nekoliko komentara na taj tekst. Braben je malko out of touch sa trenutnim stanjem hardcore scene. Mislim, napravio je dve odlične igre za WiiWare (LostWinds i nastavak mu), ali je zatim prodao dušu Majkrosoftu i bavio se Kinect softverom. Nisam siguran da bi Elite 4 danas prodao više od par stotina hiljada komada sem ako ne bi bio MMO. A i tada bi valjalo da bude free to play, sa inteligentni sistemom naplaćivanja...

Mislim, sad i ja izigravam analitičara, ali tako mu je to nekako.

Pa, ne znam, ja sam posle Inkurzna prvi put video vise od 55 000 igraca online u jednom trenutku, a i svakodnevni prosecni broj je definitivno veci. Sto bi indiciralo da se ocekivano deo igraca vratio zbog dodatka, a novi i dalje pristizu.

Ovo će posebno biti smešno Perinu. Peter Molyneux, autor njemu dragog RPG serijala Fable, ušao je u gejming biznis - greškom.

Ono o čemu se šuškalo već mesecima je konačno potvrđeno na GDC-u. Sledeća igra Bungie Softwarea (tvorci Haloa ali i igara poput Marathon, Myth ili Oni) će biti MMO, to jest Massively Multiplayer Online Action Game. Ovo ima smisla, jer je firma potpisala desetogodišnji ugovor sa Activision-Blizzardom koji, heh, ipak ima iskustva u vođenju najpopularnije subscritpion-based MMO igre na svetu, a i Activision čelnici (Kotick i Tipl, konkretno) već više od godinu i po dana pričaju kako žele da "monetizuju" činjenicu da mnogo ljudi igra njihove onlajn igre mnogo vremena. Pod tim su pre svega mislili na Call of Duty (i moguće Starcraft) ali možda je zaista lakše napraviti novi IP koji će od početka imati naplatu za onlajn igranje nego menjati model na koji su se ljudi navikli i rizikovati loše reakcije javnosti...

Heh, interesantan eksperiment na GDC-u: igra koju igra jedan igrač i kada umre, drugi nastavlja, u svetu koga je prvi nepovratno izmenio. I tako unapred, decenijama.

Pošto se Angry Birds dopadaju svima, bez razlike, evo malo trivije.

Na primer, u igru je inicijalno uloženo svega 100.000 Evra a do sada je zaradila preko 50 milijuna FUNTI. Naravno, bilo je u međuvremenu dodatnih ulaganja, ali, WOW, kakva disproporcija!!! Samo prodaja igračaka sa motivima igre (moja žena je pre neki dan izjavila da mora da kupi jednu) donosi preko 600.000 funti MESEČNO. Android verzija je besplatna a reklame u ovoj verziji donose dodatnih 600.000 funti MESEČNO.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution izlazi tek krajem Avgusta. Tužna vest za one koji je s nestrpljenjem očekuju, ali do jaja vest za one koji nikad nisu igrali original a sada imaju vremena da ga natenane pređu i shvate da je u pitanju jedna od najboljijih PC igara ikad.
